Abstract In the Thesis the problem of surface tension is studied extensively from both the mechanical and statistical point of views. The purpose is to drive simple expressions for the calculation of the surface tension for both plane or curved surfaces. It is also well known that the surfacetension is small droplets plays an important role in the process of vaporisation. Also in the drop model of the nucleus is considered as a homogeneous incompressible liquid drop of constant mass and charge density, the surface tension is quite important as a factor of holding the nucleus together againest the strong repulsion between the positive charges that tend to separate the nucleus into different parts. |
