Abstract
” Iskandarani” Summer squash (Cucurbita pepo L.) plants were fertilized with three levels of ammonium sulphate (250, 300 and 350 kgl feddan) ,three of plant spacing (25, 50 and 75 cm) and two of plant density (one and two plants per hill) during two successive summer seasons (2002 & 2003) . The objectives were to evaluate the effect of these treatments on growth, flowering, chemical contents and yield. Nitrogen fertilizer at 350 kg, plant spacing at 75 cm and plant density at one plant per hill advanced ! fresh and dry plant weight, leaf area number of leaves, number of male and female flowers, ,sex ratio, leaves chemical content, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, fruit physical and chemical • parameters. Nitrogen fertilizer at 350 kg, plant spacing at 25 cm and plant density at two plants per hill gave the highest value of vine length. Nitrogen fertilizer at 350 kg, plant spacing at 25 cm and plant density at one plant per hill gave the highest early and total fruit yield.
