Abstract Occurrence of organochlorine pesticides in aquatic environment levels of organochlorine pesticides were determined in the aquatic system of Lake mariut and Nozha Hydrodrome in period during October 1979 to April 1981. The results indicated the presence of α-BHC, lindane, 0,p-DDE, p,p-DDE, 0,p-DDT, and p,p-DDT in the water of lake mariut with average concentrations of 0.12, 1.37, 1.37, 6.63, 2.69 and 10.53 ppb respectively. While the average of total DDT (Σ DDT) were 22.13 ppb. The results of the seasonal average indicated the presence of lindane and p,p-DDE in all seasons. It is well known that lindane and DDT has been used for a long time against agricultural pests in Egypt. |
