Abstract Development of minia governorate is taking the orientation to the east of rive Nile, especially after construction of the high bridge across the river. These developing locations, in addition to the existing villages are subject to flash floods. The main aim of this work is to study the wadis to the east of river Nile, in minia governorate, to define their effect on development. Unfortunately there is no detailed-recorded metrological or hydrological data for the study area. A Geomorphological instantaneous unit hydrograph (Giuh) model is developed. The basic idea of this model is to find the unit impulsive response function of any basic depending on its geomorphological parameters. This model is suitable for third order wadis. It depends on the concept of transformation of effective rainfall over the basin to runoff is linear and time invariant. Analysis of available rainfall data to estimate the design rainfall storm, topographic maps to determine the selected wadis geomorphological parameters, and soil tests to estimate infiltration losses have been conducted. |
