Abstract The present investigation has been conducted to test the behaviour of some low cost materials as carriers of catalyst for removing pollutant gases from diesel engine amissions . concentration was made on the removal efficiency of those material s for no and co gases a clay was used as a representative for natural local materials , maize cob ( after being carbonized )was the material chosen to representagricultural waste materials while a synthetic resin represented the petrochemical products characterized by their common industrial use , simplicity of handling , their low priceand relatively simple and safe manufacturing procedures. Copper oxide was chosen to be the effective catalytic material to be carried on those chosen carriers this has been loaded on the carrier by conventionally known methods so as to be as near as possible from the international methods used for production of vehicle catalysts . a laboratory set-up was designed including an efficeient reactor chamber which contained the prepared catalyst |
