Abstract Aim of the work: The aim of this work is to detect whether microalbuminuria is a marker of silent myocardial ischemia in patients with insulin dependent diabetes independently of conventional atherogenic risk factors and of diabetic nephropathy. Conclusion: Our study suggested that elevated urinary albumin excretion predicts ischemic heart disease in people with insulin dependent diabetes independently of the conventiona atherogenic risk factors, diabetic nephropathy and control of diabetes. Microangiopathy can explain the occurrence of ischemia and also increases vasomotor tone of coronary arteries due to autonomic neuropathy. We recommend usage of the test of microalbuminuria excretion in urine as a routine follow up test for early suspension and detection of diabetic vascular complications. |
