Abstract from a total of 500 dead chicks bacteriologicallY examined for the recovery of salmonella arizonn tv•o iscistes vere recovered. The isolates were identified both morphologically, biochemically and serologic ally. — The two isolates were pathogenic to one day old Hubbard chicks infected both orally and subcutaneously. The subcutaneously route was superiour to the oral one. — The clinical microsepic and macroscopic pIctures of the disease were studied. — Shedding of the organism persisted up to 48 days in subcutaneously infected birds and up to 57 days in orally infected ones. — The serological response of the experimentally infected chicks with the two isolates reveelod agglu— tinin at the 2nd week post infection and gradually inCreaSe’1 till the Rth eek of egn. The in vitro sensitivity of the tvo isolates to the different therapeutic sgents sh@ed that they ere equally sensidve to gentemycin, ceflotin, streptomycin end resistsnt to pencillin, alcin, ampcillin and varied in sensitivity to lincornycin josamycin, tetrecyclin chloremphnico1 end nystatin. |
