المستخلص Background: Infections caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are important health problems worldwide with a high morbidity and mortality. It is known that 400 million people are HBV carriers and that each year 50 million people contact such a disease, resulting in 1–2 million deaths .Infection with HCV occurs worldwide. This study aimed to measure the awareness and knowledge towards viral hepatitis B and C in fanara village,Ismailia governerate. Methods: A descriptive cross sectional study, 109 persons were selected by a Systematic Random sample technique. Questionnaire was used in collecting data from persons fulfilling the inclusion criteria. This was comprised of two parts: The first part was designed to collect sociodemographic data, the second part consists of Hepatitis B and C knowledge questions Results: The mean age of the study population was (39.65±13.58), 65.5% were female. The married constituted 70.9%; middle educational level was 49.1%, illetracy was 6.4%, housewife were 43.6% and 2.7% were student. -The stud y shows that the level of awareness in general was low (43.6%), Moderate level of awareness was (31.8%). -There is a significant difference between level of awareness regarding sex distribution, low level of awareness between |
