The construction industries in EGYPT have improved in the last twenty years. The companies have been keen on the use of the engineering systems and the project management systems in their projects. I have made my research to know how far the use of CPM scheduling is expanding as a tool in project management in different types of Egyptian construction firms and to acquire a general idea of their working methodologies and deficiencies on project management and the problem that they faced. The start point of the thesis is a survey based on a questionnaire, which carried out in the construction sector in EGYPT on 2010 among randomly selected companies, contractors, consultants, and owners. The results from this study indicated that the CPM is used by most of the companies. It is growing and expanding in many areas, but they have a lot of problems in implementing the project management concept due to many reasons such as There is no well-trained team ,and in most of the time all the responsibilities is on the project manager. In addition, there is inefficiency of information flow from different sources and The development and operation of the project management require a cooperation of the technical , financial and human resources departments but they are in most of the time have a different criteria than project planning such as they are changeable according to many reasons to adapt themselves. The suggested remedy for this inefficiency is to create a standard system for each type of project and to be implemented in all the companies that use project management.
