Abstract Clinical varicocele is defined as the presence of distension of intrascrotal veins of the plexus pampiniformis which is either a visible bulging of the scrotal skin, or easily palpable, or palpable during Valsalva manoeuvre only. The diagnosis of testicular varicocele is made by: 1. Clinical Finding. 2.Technical Investigation: A-Imaging studies including venography, ultrasound, color flow Doppler ultrasonography (CDU) , magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),computed tomography(CT),scintigraphy ,and use of infrared functional imaging. B- Contact scrotal thermography(Varicoscreen®). C- Combination of contact scrotal thermography and CDU. 3.Laboratory Findings. The followings may be concluded: 1)CDU can detect the unilateral affection. 2)Varicoscreen can detect the bilaterality of the disease more than CDU. 3)Both CDU and varicoscreen may be a complementary methods in diagnosis of varicocele as a substitute of the invasive venography. |
