Abstract This part contains a general introduction about the chemical names, structures, physical properties, pharmacological actions and uses of the studied drugs. It also contains literature reviews for the reported methods of analysis for the selected drugs in pharmaceutical dosage forms as well as in biological fluids. Part II This part deals with the analysis of ternary mixture of amiloride hydrochloride, atenolol and chlorthalidone using spectrophotometric and chromatographic methods of analysis. This part comprises two chapters. Chapter one: In this chapter, three spectrophotometric methods were applied for the simultaneous determination of amiloride hydrochloride, atenolol and chiorthalidone without prior separation steps. The first method is derivative ratio spectra-zero-crossing method. By using amiloride hydrochloride as a divisor, atenolol and chlorthalidone can be determined by measuring the first derivative signals of the ratio spectra at 240 (corresponding to chiorthalidone zero-crossing) and 234 nm (corresponding to atenolol zero-crossing), respectively, while amiloride hydrochloride was measured at 293 nm which corresponds to chiorthalidone zero-crossing after using atenolol as a divisor. |
