Abstract Open channels junction is very important in designing the irrigation and drainage canals. The open channel junctions are very complex because there are numerous variables that affecting on flow and bed characteristics through the junction of two open channels. The purpose of this research is to study experimentally the effect of lateral momentum ratio, the effect of the DROPped difference in bed levels between main and branch channels, the effect of the location of the maximum values of the DROPped difference in bed levels, and the effect of the sloped difference in bed levels on flow and bed characteristics at the main channel through the junction site. Two models were considered, which are fixed and movable bed model. |
