Abstract The adrenal glands are enclosed in two-layered capsule; an outer fibrous and an inner cellular layers. The cellular layer haselongated spindle shaped connective tissue cells. Originating from the capsule C. T. trabeculae. Clusters of cells resembled the cortical cells are present in capsule and clusters of cells which looked-like medullary cells sometimes were found within the adrenal cortex and trabeculae. Their appearance was definitely related to the advancing of age. Adrenal cortex is structured in three different layers. The zona glomerulosa; the outer most layer. The zona fasciculata; the middle layer, and the zona reticularis; close to the adrenal medulla. The zona glomerulosa cells were large cuboidal and arranged ill subcapsular glomeruli. The zona glomerulosa and its parenchymal cells did not show any age demonstrable related alterations in their growth, with the exception of increase in lipofuscin pigment and increase thickness of the connective tissue fibers. It appeared more vascular in young age than in the old one. The zona fasciculata revealed its cells were arranged radially in cords and were polygonal in shape. Very often binucleate cells could be seen in advanced ages. The cells have many small lipid DROPlets and peripherally distributed lipid g1dbU1es. ”’W”ith afivanellig age the fasciculata cells appeared larger and engorged with large |
