Abstract The experimental work was designed to study the effects of green tea (GT) as a natural feed additive in laying diets of two different strains (Fayoumi and Golden Montazah). At the age of 22 weeks old, 405 hens plus 45 cocks of both Fayoumi (F) and Golden Montazah (GM) were taken. At the beginning of laying, a total number of every strain was randomly divided into 3 experimental groups each in three replicates, 50 birds each (45 females and 5 males). Every strain was fed on experimental diets varying in green tea addition (0.0, 0.2 and 0.4 %). Results demonstrated that green tea supplementation in layer diets could have a positive effect on egg performance, egg quality and chemical composition of eggs laid, fertility and hatchability and immune responses. Also, from the economical point of view, it was noticed that F hens or GM ones fed layer diets supplemented with 0.4 % GT were the best. |
