Abstract

Psoriasis genome-wide association studies detected gene polymorphisms in the vicinity of many genes including IL-12B, IL-23R, TNFAIP3 and IL13. These studies were performed in cohorts of European patients and healthy controls, Americans of European ancestry and Han Chinese. We attempted to reproduce four replicated single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) associated with PV in Egyptians by genotyping 107 patients and 177 healthy controls using Taqman SNP genotyping assay.
We found a significant association in early onset psoriasis patients of rs3212227 (IL12B, p-value 1.14 x 10-12) and rs610604 (TNFAIP3, p-value 1.5 x 10-3). No associations were observed for rs11209026 (IL23R) and rs20541 (IL13), indicating the possibility of interethnic differences for psoriasis susceptibility genes.
