Abstract This study was conducted during two successive seasons of 2006 and 2007 on fruiting ’Canino’ apricot trees grafted on apricot seedlings grown in clay soil of a private orchard at Fayoum Governorate. At bud swelling stage, the trees were sprayed on January 20th of each season with Dormex alone at 1%, 2% and 3% or combined with mineral oil at 3%; zinc sulphate at 5% alone or combined with mineral oil 3% and urea at 6% alone or combined with mineral oil at 3%. All treatments of Dormex alone or combined with mineral oil accelerated flowering; fruit set and yield dates; increased fruit yield and improved fruit physical and chemical quality. Adding mineral oil at 3% to Dormex was not effective than applying Dormex alone. The most effective treatment was applying Dormex at 3% as compared to the control and the other treatments. Spraying Dormex at 3% accelerated significantly opening of floral and vegetative buds, initial and final fruit set and picking date; increased significantly tree growth, percentages of floral and vegetative buds on shoots and spurs, fruit set and yield and improved fruit quality as compared with the control. In addition, other treatments increased carbohydrates and N.P.K in leaves and indoles and amino acids in buds as compared with the control.
