Abstract Acute GN comprises a specific set of renal diseases in which an immunologic mechanism triggers inflammation and proliferation of glomerular tissue that can result in damage to the basement membrane, mesangium, or capillary endothelium. The aim of this study was to study the effect of everolimus and EPCson mesangial proliferation and glomerular endothelial repair in acute anti-Thy1.1 proliferative GN animal model. To test this hypothesis thirty two male Inbred Wistar-Imamichi (WI) strain rats were grouped into four groups, eight animals each. Group A rats were the negative control, group B rats were the positive control, group C rats were the acute anti-Thy 1.1 plus Everolimus and group D rats were the acute anti-Thy 1.1 plus EPCs. Both H&E and E-MT staining of renal autopsies of ATS injected rats showed glomerular mesangialhypercellularity, variable number of lymphocyte infiltrations with loss of Bowman space and no endothelial cells injury, as well as marked increase in urinary albumin excretion was noticed. |
