Abstract The Maize (Zia maize) is one of the main crops in Egypt. It used for the animal dry forage with 70% and human consumption with 20%. It is also used for some industry such as Extraction of Glucose, Fructose sugar, and oil. In Egypt planted area (Ha) equal to 968519. It’s production (Ton) equal to 7041100 In the World planted area (Ha) equal to 161908449. It’s production (Ton) equal to 844405181(FAO, 2010). The objective of this study: 1. It constructed with conventional rough materials in the local workshop. 2. The developed machine has a low economic cost for its constructed and its implying. 3. The developed machine has a good technique parameters which make it more flexible to modify ridge dimensions and sowing depth. 4. In general, concluded more than one operation in one process by combined machine gained saving in operations time and costs. The important results obtained: 1- The average grain dimensions (length, width and thickness) were 12.34, 10.03 and 5.39, mm respectively. 2- The average weight of 1000 grains was 420.5, gm. 3- The value of shape index (SI) higher than 1.5 this intend that all maize grain shape take oval shape. 4- The optimum soil profile at ( depth 9 cm, forward speed 0.55 m/sec , angle 60 degree and height -6 cm ). 5- The highest cross section area (673.44, cm2) was gained under the lower former height (H1= -6cm), Ridge former side angle (A4= 600), ridger depth (D3= 9cm) and tractor forward speed (S1= 0.55 m/sec). 6- The minimum value of longitudinal scattering (C.V, %) was 21.26 at planting space 28 cm and sowing depth 5 cm. 7- The optimum value of transverse scattering at planting space 28 cm and sowing depth 5 cm. 8- The minimum value of fuel consumption was 3.8 L/F at sowing space 22 cm and sowing depth 2 cm. 9- The maximum value of emergence percentage, % was 88.4 at sowing space 28 cm and sowing depth 5 cm. The final recommendation The developed machine can be used for planting zia maize at ridger depth 9cm, forward speed 0.55m/ sec, ridge former side angle 60o and former height -6cm. |
