Abstract

Vanadium and boron oxides supported on the surface of sulfated polymer zirconia
were prepared by impregnation method. At first zirconia gel was prepared by the
addition of ammonium hydroxide to aqueous solution of zirconyl oxynitrate at
room temperature with constant vigorous stirring till pH = 8.5. The precipitate was
washed several times with distilled water till free from nitrate ion. 20 wt % polymer modified catalyst was prepared by solution containing calculated
amount of polyvinyl alcohol, (PV A), to appropriate amount of zirconia gel
dropwise with constant stirring. 15 wt % sulfated zirconia was prepared by adding appropriate amount of 2N H2S04 to 20 wt% polymer modified zirconia to obtain the sui fated polymer zirconia samples. The resulting slurry was heated to evaporate the solvent. The solid was pulverized and sieved.
