Abstract This study was conducted to study the performance of drip irrigation in . different of pressures in sandy soils for saving water, increasing yield of tomato, . increasing the energy use efficiency, improving tomato quality, decreasing the: costs and increasing income under Egyptian growing conditions. Factors of two drip irrigation systems, three pressures, two design and two discharge emitters for ~uch purpose, the field was carried out during two summer growing seasons 2008 and 2009. in sandy soil of Minia University Farm, west samallout, Minia·. Governorate area . This experiment was carried out to study the effect of two : irrigation systems (surface and subsurface drip irrigation and three pressures (0.7, . 1.0 and 1.2) bar and two design (closed and open design) and two discharge emitter ’ (2 and 4 L/ h).with continuous drip irrigation (one time per day). The following parameters were studied to evaluate the performance of drip irrigafon: (I) Emi~~ion uniformity. (2) Clogging ratio of emitters. (3) Energy use efficiency. (4) Watt,r use efficiency. (5) SOl; l110isture distribution. (6) Application efficiency. (7) Fertilizer use efficiency. (8) Yield of tomato. (9) Quality of tomato crops. (10) Financial analysis. The most important results could be summarized as follow: 1. ”EU” increased from 83.49 % to 99.56%. 2. ”CRE” decreased from 13.3 % it become 3.3 %. 3. WUEtomato increased from 1.97 kg/m3 to 10.66 kg/m3. 4. ”MCRZ”increased from 4.93% to 11.45 %. 5. ”AE” increased from 86 % to 98.5 %. 6. Fertilizers use efficiency ”NUEtomato” , ”PUEtomato” and ”KUEtomato” that it increased become ”NUEtomato” , ”PUEtomato” and ”KUEtomato” was 268.60 (kg/kggN), 141.46 (kg/kg-P) and 229.22 (kg/kg-K) respectively. 7. ”YT” increased from 8.2 (ton/fed) to 29.7 (ton/fed). 8. ”TSS” increased from 3.5 % to 7.5 %. 9. ”NI” due to the increasing in ”YT”. Net Income increased from -2698 (LE/fed) to 13420 (LE/fed). Key words: Drip irrigation pressure, Emission uniformity, Water use efficiency, Clogging ratio of emitters. |
