Abstract Liver diseases are very common worldwide .The most basic classification of liver disease is as acute and chronic. The definition of acute liver disease (such as acute hepatitis and acute liver failure) is based on duration, with the history of the disease dose not exceed six months. Diseases of longer duration are classified as chronic (such as chronic viral hepatitis, cirrhosis).Functional food are a manifestation of a common saying, ’Medicines and foods have a common origin’, in constituting both a nutritionally functional food and a source of physiologically beneficial medicine. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of effect of mushroom, asparagus and their extract on feed intake, body weight gain%, organs weight / body weight %, (lipid profile, liver functions, kidney functions, glucose) and the change in the liver, histopathologicaly, of rats suffering from chronic liver disease. Materials and Methods Biological Study Fifteen male rats Sprague Dawley Strain Weighing (200 5 g) were housed in well aerated cages under hygienic condition and fed on basal diet for one week for adaptation. After adaptation period, the rats were divided into two main groups as follows: The first main group (5 rats) was fed on basal diet (as a control negative group). |
