Abstract South Sinai, an arid to extremely arid region, is characterized by an ecological uniqueness due to its diversity in landforms, geologic structures, and climate that resulted in a diversity in vegetation types. The present study aims to investigate the variation in vegetation and species diversity in coastal wadis which drain their water into Gulf of Aqaba (Wadi Kid) and inland wadis which drain their water from surrounding high mountains to the main channel of WadiFeiran (WadiSolaf, WadiRomana and Wadi El-Akhdar). After a reconnaissance survey that was conducted between 2010 and 2011. Eighty five stands were selected to represent as much as possible the variation in the vegetation and georeferenced using GPS. Location and co-ordinates of these stands, together with their geomorphologic landscape units were recorded. |
