Abstract Ofloxacin-loaded Gelrite in situ gel could be prepared using simple methodology. from the collected results, it can be concluded that: 1- The drug content, clarity and pH of the formulations were satisfactory. 2- The formulations exhibited pseudoplastic rheology, as evidenced by shear thinning. The viscosity was directly dependent on the polymeric content of the formulations. 3- Release studies conducted, using tear fluid, revealed a remarkable difference between the release profiles of the formed gel and the commercial drug eye drops. 4- The drug release rate was decreased when microspheres were incorporated into in situ gelling Gelrite. 5- Drug-polymer interactions was either absent or could not detected. |
