Abstract The present investigation oarried out to study the effeot of seasonal ohanges on the rate of Meiotio division iIIthe local Bala strain of rabbits. The effect of seasonal variation on some fitness components in Baladi and other imported breed, namelly Bouscat ,were also studied. The fitness oomponents were litter size, body weight, viability, and gl:l3tationperiod. The crosses between the two breeds i.e. Baladi and Bousoat were oarried out and average body weight, viability and sex ratio were recorded for the offspring. The fitness components were estimated at different periods of animal ages. The results obtained in this investigation indicated that II - The frequenoies of different meiotio stages indioated that Paohytene, diplotene and diakinesis of prophase 1 reoorded the other stages • The metaphase I and anaphase I of the first meiotic divisions and also metaphaseII and anaphaseII of the second meiotio division were observed in very low frequenceies. 2 - The frequenoies of the diffrent Meiotio stages showed cosidrable reduotion in the different Meiotio stages showed considerable reduction in the percentage of differeat stages during the summer than the winter season. mean litter size was generally: higher in Bousoat than in Baladi rabbits. |
