Abstract In summary, a small scale desalination system of 94.21 liters per day expected capacity powered by solar energy has been theoretically modeled and experimentally validated. The system based on a hybrid technology of air humidification and dehumidification with water flash evaporation plant (HDH-SSF). A pilot plant has been designed and fabricated to obtain an applicable model for the proposed system. Outdoors tests confirm that the proposed HDH-SSF hybrid system can serve as an alternative source of drinking water for a small community in remote locations without any external thermal power supply or any additional cooling water. |
