Abstract

Melasma is a common acquired disorder of hypermelanosis presents as light brown to dark macules and patches on the sunexposed areas of the face mostly around the cheeks, forehead, upper
lip, nose, and chin and it may affect other areas such as neck and
forearm. Melasma is a cosmetic problem leading to psychologically distressing disorder and has effect on quality of life. The treatment of melasma remains a challenge due to its frequent recurrence and aggravation even during or after treatment. No single treatment has been proven to be the most effective; combinations of modalities can be used to optimize management in difficult cases. So, the aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of
intradermal injection of tranexamic acid for treatment of melasma
and to compare it with topical silymarin cream and with glycolic acid peeling
