Abstract The present work was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of Cephalsporin on Nile cat fish (Clarias gariepinus). This was done by studing the effect on blood picture, some liver&kidneyfunaction parameter as well as hisopathological changes 1) Efficacy of Ceftiofur sodium and cephalexin: The in vivo treatment measures were applied in cat fish experimentally infected with A. hydrophila. The results obtained proved that Ceftiofur sodium and cephalexin were markedly effective in vivo against A. hydrophila microorganisms. Treatment with therapeutic regimen of both Ceftiofur sodium and cephalexin, displayed complete recovery from the gross pathological lesions. 2) Effects of Ceftiofur sodium and cephalexin on blood constitutes of catfish: Healthy fish treated with Ceftiofur sodium showed no changes in blood constituents meanwhile, the fish treated with cephalexin showed a significant decrease inRBCs count, hemoglobin concentration and PCV%. Infected fish treated with Ceftiofur sodium and cephalexin showed a significant decrease of RBCs counts, Hb concentration and PCV%. |
