Abstract The wide spread of carbon family and carbon nanomaterial in adsorption process and in catalysis has grown in the last decades. So we prepared GO from graphite powder by modified Hummer method, and we used it for removal of cationic dyes like methylene blue (MB) and malachite green (MG), also we prepared three mixtures of CSGO with different molar ratios (5:95, 15:85 and 25:75) and we used them for removal of Pb(II) and Cd(II). Also, GO has electronic properties, so we used it in photocatalytic process by modification ZnO on GO with different molar ratio (100:1, 100:3 and 100:5) for degradation of methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine b (Rh.B). ZnO has many advantages in photocatalytic process due to its high oxidizing power, nontoxic, low cost and has wide band gap (3 ev). Structural characterization of the prepared samples were determined using TEM, SEM, X-ray, FTIR, elemental analysis, EDX, XPS analysis and uv/vis spectroscopy to determine the band gap of ZnO and GO/ZnO. |
