Abstract The present study was carried out to assess the potential of two different concentrations of ORS (20% and 25%) in preserving the viability of periodontal ligament cells for different time periods in comparison with HBSS and milk. Immortalized human skin fibroblasts were cultured in a humidified incubator with 5% CO2 and 95% air at 37 ˚C. Then, cells were exposed to 100 μL of each storage medium at room temperature for either 30 min, 1 hour, 3, 6, 12, and 24 hours. After the predetermined periods, cell viability was determined by using SRB assay. The results revealed that significantly more viable cells survived in HBSS followed by milk in comparison to ORS 25% and ORS 20% through all culture times. |
