Abstract Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the cause of many different forms of heart diseases worldwide. Many investigators have reported positive association between HCV infection and cardiovascular diseases including dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and coronary heart disease ( 1 ) . HCV infection was associated with ventricular remodeling in the patient with dilated cardiomyopathy and demonstration of HCV-RNA in the myocardium suggests that the virus may have a direct cytopathic effect on the myocardium and may induce the cell growth ( 4 ).Moreover ,it is thought that inflammatory cytokines released secondary to HCV infection account for cardiac involvement in the patients infected with HCV. |
