Abstract In this work, a modified method for determination of the fault location in a distribution lines is presented. This method can be applied single ended line (radial) and two parallel radial lines. It is capable to determine the fault resistance and fault location upon the fault occurrence, based on the voltage and the current measurements available from the measuring equipment. This method depends on an algorithm used by [3], Gauss-Seidel iterative technique for solving the fault equation to calculate the fault location and the fault resistance. Then, another algorithm has been proposed by using generalized regression ANNs as an advanced tool. The proposed method was tested using MatIab 7.11 (R20 1 0 b) simulation and achieved results are applied. It is worth mentioning that the fault location is the main concern in this thesis. Thus, it can be used to build a stand- alone fault locating equipment that helps the maintenance team to determine the location of the fault. |
