Several studies have examined the traumas and post-traumatic stress disorders.The severe and significant events were the main cause for suffering from the post-traumatic stress disorders such as the Egyptian revolution on 25 January 2011, Mohammad Mahmoud street events, and Post-Said events.Watching the media coverage of these events led to this disorder. Therefore, present study tried to investigate the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological adjustment among youth. The study problem was answered through answering the following questions:
1-Is there a correlation relationship between the post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological adjustment among male and female youth after the events of 25 January Revolution?2-Does the post-traumatic stress disorder differ according to the difference in gender (male–female)?3-Does the psychological adjustment differ according to the difference in gender (male – female)? Study Objectives: The present study aimed it investigating the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological adjustment among youth after the events of 25 January Revolution.Study Terminology:The following terms were presented and operationally defined: post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological adjustment.Study Limitations:The present study limited itself to its sample, tools, statistical techniques and findings as follows:Study Sample:The sample of the present study consisted of 90 male and female youth, out of 150. 60 youth were excluded because they did not complete their answers and others did not participate or interest in the events of the revolution. The sample was drawn randomly.Study Tools:1-Post-traumatic stress disorder scale, preparing by the researcher.2-psychological adjustment scale, preparing by the researcher.
Statistical Techniques:1-Pearson Correlation Coefficient.2-Cronbach’s alpha equation.3-T-test.Study Hypotheses: 1-There is a statistically significant negative correlation relationship between the male and female youth’s scores on the post-traumatic stress disorder scale and their scores on the psychological adjustment scale.2-There are no statistically significant differences between the male’s and females’scores means on the post-traumatic stress disorder scale.3-There are no statistically significant differences between the male’s and females’ scores means on the psychological adjustment scale.
