Abstract The main objective of the present study was to assess the probable interference between Moringa oleifera Lam. trees and Citrullus lanatus (Thunb. ( in mixed cropping system. The experiment was carried out to test the allelopathic potential of different concentrations (2.5, 5, 7.5 and 10% besides the control) of the different parts (leaves, roots, root bark and seeds) of M. oleifera aqueous extract (MOLAE, MORAE, MORBAE and MOSAE, respectively) on some germination and growth parameters. All parameters exhibited a significant decrease with the increase in extract concentration. The fresh and dry weight of shoot and root of C. lanatus seedling reduced gradually in response to the increase in M. oleifera leaves aqueous extract as compared to the control. |
