Abstract Urospermum picroides belongs to family Asteraceae (Compositae). The previous studies showed the importance of this species due to its biological activities, economic importance and applications in traditional medicine. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is the phytochemical and biological evaluation of Urospermum picroides. The plant material was divided into two parts; aerial parts and seeds. Each part of them was air dried in shade at room temperature and grinded to give 400 g of aerial parts and 50 g of seeds dried powder material. The constituents of each fraction were investigated by chromatographic techniques (column and thin layer chromatography). This work has led finally to characterization of 55 natural compounds using modern spectral methods such as GC/MS and NMR spectroscopy. It was a biological evaluation of plant extracts: 1.Evaluation antioxidant activity.2.Evaluation antimicrobial activity.3.Evaluation cytotoxicity against human tumor cells HePG2, MCF-7.These organic compounds may have applications in the medical field, economic or academic interest. |
