Abstract Purpose: This study to evaluate the effect of topical application of propolis on mucosal wound healing Materials and Methods 40 male albino rats were used. The animals were classified into four main groups, ten rats for each group: group I, II were subjected to surgical wound in the buccal mucosal area without using any treatment materials for 4 and 7 days respectively. group III, IV were subjected to surgical wound in the buccal mucosal area with propolis treatment for 4 and 7 days. The rats were sacrificed after the specific duration. Section were prepared for staining by Haematoxylin-eosin(H-E) and trichrome stain. Result : results showed more epithelialization, collagen fiber formation in experimental groups than control groups. Conclusion: The histological examination revealed enhanced buccal mucosal wound healing by using propolis. |
