Abstract The new established cities and communities need to compatible with sustainable thinking and environmental aspects. At architecture scale, sustainable building design is designed to achieve high performance, over the full building life cycle through minimizing natural resource consumption, minimizing emissions, minimal negative impacts on site ecosystems and maximum quality of indoor environment. But, the extreme climatic conditions of the desert require a perfect design of indoor spaces climate in order to reach good indoor environment. This research studies the ability of obtaining comfort spaces using passive architectural techniques which is the first sustainable design choices, with using of digital simulation software [energy and CFD simulation] which a good tool to compare different strategies and techniques. The research showed the ability of changing indoor environment to a considerable extent, and illustrated the overlapping effects on human comfort conditions such as daylight, temperature and airflow. The research proved that using of a passive technique has numerous impacts, and could reach human comfort with accurate design. This research recommended using passive architectural techniques to achieve acceptable indoor environmental quality in desert climate and using integrated approach on designing passive architectural features which enlarge synergies between passive techniques, based on simulation study in early stage design. |
