Abstract Endovascular therapy is an expanding field, based on percutaneous approach to the vascular lesions. One important aspect of this revolution in the vascular field is its complications. Complications are not only local but also general in some cases. Systemic complications like cardiac, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, cerebrovascular and others. Those complications can be avoided by good selection of patients and good perioperative care. Local complications such as entry site complications, difficulty in device passage and complications at the working site. Those can be avoided by good selection of the instruments, proper imaging and careful handling as well as better selection of the lesion for the procedure. There is no doubt that vascular surgeons are the best to manage the complications of endovascular techniques based on their experiences in open vascular surgery and their ability to convert the endovascular procedures to open surgery whenever needed. |
