Abstract CoPD is a major public health problem among elderly, as it leads to substantial disability, loss of productivity and reduces the quality of life which is worsened as the disease progresses. Epidemiological surveys revealed high prevalence of COPD much of which was undetected clinically and thus untreated. Clinical depression is common and under treated in patients with COPD and the psychological problems associated with COPD that can affect the patients’ personal and social quality of life are not often addressed. The most important determinant of quality of life in elderly COPD are ADL score and emotional status. This thesis was conducted to assess the presence of depression among elderly suffering from COPD, and its impact ion the quality of life. |
