Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behavior of steel in 0.5 M Sulfuric acid solution and the inhibiting effect of some plant extract compounds. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these compounds increased by increasing their concentration, so that the adsorption of these compounds is physical and the adsorption of the organic compounds on steel surface in 0.5 M Sulfuric acid follows Langmuir and Temkin adsorption isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization technique was used as a second method to study the inhibiting effect of the used extracts. from these results it was found that these extracts act as mixed type inhibitors. Also, impedance spectroscopy measurements and electrochemical frequency modulation measurements were used. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. Also, electrochemical frequency modulation measurements. The surface morphology of the surface was studies using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained results of all methods are in good agreement. |
