Abstract

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the histopathological effects of different antiseptic materials: normal saline, sodium hypochlorite, 3 mix antibiotics on healing processes of direct pulp capping. Materials and methods: The study carried on 54 spraug dwelly rats that were divided into three groups, 18 rats each placed in three cages. The study was conducted on upper (right or left) first molar teeth of each rat. Every 6 rats within each group were treated with 0.9% sterile saline, 0.5% sodium hypochloride (NaOCL), and 3MIX-MP, respectively. In each group, rats were serially sacrificed at 7 days, 30 days and 60 days. Specimens from tooth and periapical tissue were fixed in buffered formalin and processed for histopathological evaluation. Results: The results revealed that groups treated with 3 mix were significantly improved inflammatory response and proper tissue healing of teeth pulp and periapical tissue on short and long time, in the contrary normal saline and sodium hypochlorite. Conclusion: This study confirmed the effectiveness of 3 mix as a strong antibacterial, on short and long duration, and haven’t toxic effect on pulpal tissue or periapical tissue.
