Abstract Water distribution systems are a pivotal part of the infrastructure of urban or rural communities. To deliver water to consumers, it is required to achieve a minimum flow and pressure criteria as well as the increasingly stringent water quality standards. However, water supply companies are facing growing costs due to aging and failure infrastructure and also due to the excess energy consumption resulted due to it. This problem becomes more complex because the decision-making has large, long lasting consequences and is fraught with risk and uncertainty. |
