Abstract This case study explanation for the environmental impact assessment which is one of the main requirements in many countries for most projects before being approved for construction, operation or decommissioning or dismantling. The study gives an environmental impact assessment for a typical sulfur recovery unit from H2S in one of the NGL plants at the gulf Arabian area. The study includes description of the environment baseline characteristics where the plant is constructed as well as explanation of the sulfur recovery process and description of the environmental aspects and impacts and their severity. The study describes the types and quantities of wastes and emissions and how to control them in order to reduce their environmental impacts and also provides the best available techniques that can be used. |
