Abstract Introduction: Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a disease characterised by narrowing and blockade of peripheral arteries, usually based on underlying obliterating atherosclerosis Patients and Methods : This is a cross sectional study that was conducted at Diabetes clinic of Ain Shams university hospital during the period from March 2014 to February 2015. All diabetic patients whether type 1 or type 2 were included in the study after signing an informed CONSENT All patients were subjected to ABI measurement and those with ABI<0.9 OR >1.3 SUBJECTED TO DUPLEX EXAMINATION Results: 28 PATIENTS WERE DIAGNOSED AS PAD 10.4%OF STUDY POPULATION .LDL and diabetes duration were the independent risk factor for PAD in these patients. Conclusion: Prevalence of PAD WAS 10.4% among study population |
