Abstract

This study is carried out in order to investigate the occurrence of parasitic affections in dressed animal carcasses at Mansoura abattoir, all over the year. A total number of 6575 cattle, 751 buffaloes, and 6196 sheep were carefully inspected at Mansoura abattoir, immediately after their dressing, during 2015 for parasitic affections. Two mesenteric lymph nodes were taken from each surveyed carcass. Both active muscle and organs were sensorily inspected, before and after being incised, for parasitic affections. It was found that the total prevalence of tissue parasites was 3.31, 22.77, and 18.24% in cattle, buffaloes, and sheep, respectively. Detailed in infection of Cysticercus bovis in cattle only by prevalence 1.27%, while Hydatid cyst was recorded in both cattle and bufalloe carcasses by prevalence 0.26 and 0.4 %, respectively. Also, buffaloes; were infected by Sarcocystis spp by prevalence 19.71%. Sheep carcasses were infected with Cysticercus ovis, and C. tenuicolis by prevalence4.44 and 13.8% respectively. Through 27044 mesentric lymhnodes collected from each examined animals for diagnosis of lingatula serrata, all cases were negative. Microscopical examinations of the obtained parasites were performed for identification.
