Abstract Abstract It’ advisable that usage of Dexamethasone intra vitreal implant in treatment of macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion, noninfectious posterior uveitis, and Diabetic macular edema. Also for choroidal neovascularization secondary to exudative age-related macular degeneration, as it has lower risk of causing IOP elevation and cataract compared to other steroids. Sustained release corticosteroid treatment has shown to be a promising strategy for macular edema due to retinovascular disease, However Further studies with larger patient populations are needed to determine the indications for each of these implants, as well as long-term results, including the effects of receiving multiple sustained release steroids over time to help clarify some issues.
