Abstract The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of claudin-4, interleukin-8 and matrix metalloproteinase-2 in surface epithelial ovarian tumors and their correlations with the clinicopahologic parameters. This study included 78 cases of ovarian tumors from Egyptian patients, collected from Pathology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University during the period between January 2009 and January 2016. The studied cases included benign cystadenoma (7 cases), borderline cystadenoma (9 cases) and malignant adenocarcinoma (62 cases). In the present study, On comparing benign and borderline cases, solid or mixed growth appearance was significantly associated with borderline cases (p=0.009). Dual comparison between borderline and malignant cases as regards clinicopathological features revealed significant correlation between malignant cases and positive gross omental nodules (p=0.001), positive ascetic fluid (p=0.00), higher mitotic count (p=0.00), advanced T stage (p=0.005) and advanced FIGO stage (p=0.01)in comparison to borderline cases when comparing benign and malignant cases, a statistically significant association was found between malignant group and older patient‘s age (p=0.01), tumor bilaterality (p=0.01) and solid or mixed gross appearance (p=0.000). |
