Abstract The aim of the current study was determine the possibility of repairing the bulk fill resin composite with conventional resin composite, and evaluate the effect of silane on shear bond strength. Materials and Methods: Ninety specimens were fabricated with bulk fill resin composite (n=30): group A: Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill, group B: Filtek Bulk Fill and group C: X-tra fill. Each group was subdivided into three subgroups (n=10): Subgroup 1: silane free adhesive (ExciTE F alone), Subgroup 2: silane coupling agent and silane free adhesive (Calibra silane coupling agent + ExciTE F), and Subgroup 3: silane containing adhesive (Single Bond Universal). The repair composite was achieved by Filtek Z250 XT resin composite. Results: The effect on bulk fill composite factor had significance of 0.001. The effect of the technique used on showed significant effect of 0.03. Conclusions: This study shows improvement in bond strength when silane was applied. Microhybrid bulk fill composite had higher repair bond strength than nanohybrid composite substrates. |
