Abstract The present study was performed on 27 clinically healthy male donkeys of different ages (3-6) years old and different weights (150-200 Kg). The animals were housed and managed in the isolation stables of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University. The experiments were done in Department of Surgery, Anesthesiology and Radiology in accordance to the guide from committee of animal welfare and research ethics. The animals were divided into three groups each group of nine animals based on the type of the injected growth factor used for SDF tenorrhaphies in the right fore limbs. Each group was further sub divided into three animals according to the time of euthanasia at 30, 60 and 90 days post- operation. 1. (group I): Used for SDFT tenorrhaphy after removal of 1 cm segment from its full thickness at its mid portion of right fore cannon region. Nylon no.2 was used and locking loop suture pattern was applied. No growth factor was injected intra lesionaly in this group (control group). 2. (group II): The previous technique of group I was applied in addition injection of platelets rich plasma in the gap between the two cut ends of SDFT at the day of surgery and weekly for 3 successive weeks. |
