Abstract Our study was approved by institutional ethics committee of Minia university hospital and performed from march 2015 to decemper 2015 after written concent from 75 male and femal patient A.S.A classification I or II , aged from 18-65 years old undergoing lumbar laminectomy and randomly allocated to 3 equal groups 25 patients in each group. Anesthetic technique was standardized in all groups and at the completion of laminectomy group[A] 5ml of 1mg /ml morphine directly instilled over intact epidural space after end of laminectomy and befor final closure while group [B] Apiece of gelfoam 5cm×1cm soaked in 5mg morphine diluted with 5ml crystalloid (e.g saline 0.9%) placed in intact epidural space and group [C] Apiece of gelfoam 5cm×1cm soaked in 5mg morphine diluted with 5ml colloid (e.g HES 6%) placed in intact epidural space. |
