Abstract There are different pathologic processes that occurs in the small bowel and mesenteric vasculature. Imaging of the small bowel is challenging technically, because the organ is long and serpentine. The MDCT plays an important and efficient role in diagnosis of small bowel pathologies better than any imaging modality and in this study we proved that MDCT in small bowel imaging is a good diagnostic tool for the suitable patient who complains gastrointestinal related symptoms. We studied twenty nine cases suspicious to have small bowel lesions. using post IV and / or oral contrast MDCT in axial, coronal and sagittal reformatted images, The results were obtained and correlated with the clinical and histopathological findings. In this study, twenty nine cases had small bowel pathology, thirteen cases are diagnosed as neoplastic, 2 cases were inflammatory, 4 cases were small bowel obstruction, 3 cases were ischemic, 4 cases were internal hernia and 3 cases were intussception. |
